Welcome

Rooted in Cents exists to help families build financial stability on one income.

Whether the shift is chosen or forced, you’ll find practical systems, clear numbers,
and real-life experience to move forward with confidence.

MY STORY

I grew up in a one-income household after my father was killed when I was nine. Stability was not optional. It was necessary.

I started working at fourteen. After high school, I joined the Air Force so I could earn a degree without student loans. I served six years and earned three degrees debt-free.

Later, I built a career in aerospace and telecommunications. But when we ran the real numbers, including daycare, gas, food, wardrobe, and work-related expenses, we discovered something surprising. It was actually cheaper for me to stay home.

So we made the shift.

My husband returned to full-time military duty, and we built our life around one income. We learned how to manage cash flow, simplify expenses, and create stability without panic or extreme frugality.

Over the years, people kept asking, how do you make it work on one income?

That question became Rooted in Cents.

Today, I share the systems, tools, and financial frameworks that helped our family stay stable through income shifts, layoffs, and long-term one-income seasons.
